Cooking dinner with an omni

Hey guys I have a quick question. I'm going to Florida in a few weeks to visit my best friend. We decided it would be nice to stay in one night and cook a nice dinner. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a meal to cook for an omni that includes monstly pantry or ingredients that won't go to waste after I leave. He is VERY open minded...we go out to vegan places whenever we visit each other. I guess my concern is that I don't want to waste anything and I want to make sure he enjoys the dinner. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!!

Pasta is always a winner with omni-crowds...who doesn't love pasta?!

Aaaah yes pasta!!! Thanks so much for bringing that up! I don't eat pasta often so I totally forgot about it but a nice roasted veggie pasta bake would be so tasty! Thanks so much for the suggestion!

My husband and I cook together all the time - these are some of his favorites that are super fun to cook together because there is a lot of chopping work to share, but only one pot to clean up (super bonus) and you can enjoy a lovely bottle of wine while you take turns stirring =)

All ingredients are "real food" so nothing specifically "vegan" - the only thing that might not get used again are the spices if he doesn't cook much himself, but those are easy to stick in your handbag and just bring with you.

Of course, roasted veggies and pasta sounds wonderful too =)

Hey Sarah,

Don't know if you've done your Florida trip yet but THIS is definitely the one I'd do:

I totally thought of you as soon as I posted it. It's amazingly good and ideal for a nice, long kitchen chat over a bottle of wine while you're stirring :)

So glad you like my little blog - and thanks so much for following!

Hi :) Thank you so much for thinking of me! That is so sweet and that recipe looks amazing! I did in fact go to Florida already (just last weekend actually), but I will certainly bookmark this recipe because it just looks so good!

I ended up making a gluten free baked ziti with broccoli and spinach. It came out so good! I posted about the dinner here (http://vavavegan.tumblr.com/post/4531919761/friday-night-i-wanted-to-cook-my-friend-a) and the sorta recipe (I kinda just made it up as I went) here (http://vavavegan.tumblr.com/post/4532618543/i-had-a-request-for-my-baked-ziti-recipe-i). The pictures were hideous and taken in crap lighting with a point and shoot so they never made it to my photo blog.

It is so funny that you said it was a perfect recipe to pop a bottle and chat over because that is EXACTLY what we did. it was such a nice evening and it bums me out that he lives so far because to me that is a perfect night.

Love your blog, everything looks so yummy! Thanks again for thinking of me!
