Madison, Wisconsin recommendations

I'm a vegetarian really interested in going vegan! I am going to the University of Wiscosin-Madison next year and I was looking for recommendations on places around there to eat, shop, etc. Also how to get through college years without binging on oreos and chips. I'm so inspired by vegan lifestyle that I really want to stick to it and not gain the freshman 15 on icky foods!
I moved to Madison last year from Los Angeles, and was terrified that I would be the ONLY vegan in a world of beef and cheese, but I was SO wrong! There are so many options for us here! There's a great whole-foods co-op right near the campus called Willy Street Co-op as well as a Whole Foods and Trader Joes all near campus for your grocery shopping. As far as restaurants, there are TONS that offer multiple delicious vegan options near campus, such as the Laurel Tavern (best homemade veggie burgers I've ever had), the Nitty Gritty, Kabul Cafe, Costa Rica Cafe, The Green Owl (which is a 100% vegan/vegetarian restaurant) and so many others that I probably don't have room to name! There's also a place a little ways from campus called Bloom that is a vegan/gluten free cupcake bakery!
You can check out my blog http://veganrockergirl.blogspot.com for lots of recommendations in the Madison area. Good luck with school!
Oh, I forgot! Madison has one of the countries' largest farmers markets in the spring/summer/fall that is right off campus that circles the entire capital...you'll LOVE it!

No problem! Being from LA, I thought I would hate living here, but I have totally fallen in love with this city, and I think you'll see how awesome it is, too!
