Hello all! I have been a vegetaria n(or pescatarian) for about 1.5 years now, I have had my slip ups etc, but after buying Alicia's book I am ready to be vegan. Tomorrow will mark my two week veganism!! I am feeling good overall, although very bloated at times, and gassy :( I am hoping this will fade as my body goes through more detox?!
I was on happycow.com today and was reading about animal products. I am in shock by how many things contain animal parts (perfume, lotion, chap stick, MINTS[gelatin],etc) it seems like every single thing I have owned or used my whole 25 years of life is from an animal. I am pretty upset that it took me this long to even question what ingredients are in my lotions, foods, shampoos etc etc etc. Is there anyone who can give me advice on some MAIN animal ingredients to look for when buying different products? I was overwhelmed by the long list of words I couldnt pronounce that are biproducts of animal parts, and I can't possibly memorize them by the next time I buy body products. Anything would help!
