Hi Angelique,

I live in NH and am vegan (so is my hubby). I've been vegetarian for many years and then went vegan after Christmas 2009. I don't get a chance to come on here very often but I do hope you see my response and know that there are others here in NH who are vegan. You're not alone I seem to run into more vegans than I ever thought I would. Hang in there and stay positive :)

Hi!

I'm very new to the community. I live in Sunapee, NH. I'm currently a vegetarian, but hoping to switch to veganism soon.

Not many restaurant options for people like us around here :/

I'm in Rye! I'm a life- long vegetarian and want to transition to becoming a vegan. It's hard with a carnivore husband and a 2 1/2 year old who currently is too. It's a source of confliction for us.

I am a vegan living in Durham, NH. Been a vegetarian since March 2011 and a vegan since early July 2012 but I flirted with veganism off and on since 2011. Here to stay! My husband is a vegetarian Monday through Friday. He has lost 14 lbs. and is at his goal weight. Why vegetarian? I had read articles linking dairy and animal protein consumption to MS and I was diagnosed with MS in September 2010. So that was the main impetus for my diet change. Seems to be working because I have not had any issues with my MS....symptom free and hope to stay that way. Of course, now I am also vegan because I have read heartbreaking stories about how animals live and die on factory farms and the environmental havoc that is occurring in the name of ridiculous cravings for bacon, pizza and burgers. Some people think I'm being extreme for not eating meat or dairy but now I think it's extreme to eat that garbage. I can't imagine putting that stuff in my mouth...cravings for it are gone. A good cookbook to buy is CHLOE'S KITCHEN...man, are her recipes delicious and easy! In addition to enjoying some moderate weight loss it appears my rosacea is not as bad as it used to be.

HI Becky,
I just saw your comment (like I said I don't come on here often) and had to respond because what you said is so much like what my husband experienced. We went veg years back after he was diagnosed with MS and it pretty much saved him from being in a wheel chair. I'm sorry it took us so long to go vegan because it made such a huge difference even after being veg. Like you his rosacea cleared up and my eczema rarely shows up!! I've had bad eczema on and off for about 25 yrs. So congrats!!! and hopefully your hubby will see all the benefits and go full on vegan! We are not the ones who are extreme omnivores are, I mean how can someone eat another dead being????

Does used to live in NH count, lived in southern NH for about 25 years, recently moved to Newburyport Ma (awesome little port town if your not familiar with it). We moved here to open our Vegan/vegetarian/GF bakery cafe. Zac & Ani's (name after our kids) There are a few places on the shoreline of MA and NH that are either vegan, vegetarian or do a good job adapting their menu. Based on all the responses looks like your not alone!

I'm from Salem :) My husband and I have been vegan and gluten-free since July 2012 and haven't looked back! We're always looking for new spots to try out and agree that the seacoast is the best area to find lifestyle-friendly choices. Will definitely add Zac and Ani's to the list to try - we're always in/around NBPT. Yay!

I'll be moving to Concord, NH in August for school! I'm really excited about it and I've already begun researching the local farmers market and natural food stores in the area. I currently live in GA and I'm excited about moving to the New England were people are healthier.
