Fort Walton Beach/Destin: Need Help!

Hey! So I'm traveling from Baton Rouge to the potentially less vegan-friendly Fort Walton Beach with a fellow vegetarian, so at least I have safety in numbers! Pensacola has a couple of vegan restaurants that we can stop at (lunch on the way there, dinner on the way back) but in between time, its simply too far of a drive for lunch or dinner from FWB. I found that the Tommy Bahama's in Sandestin would be probably be ok (they have a plantain dish that sounds great- I'm going to email them to make sure) but practicaly every menu I look at is seafood/meat galore and the things that aren't are generally suspect of dairy/eggs. Any help/suggestions would be awesome! We'd love to have stress-free options.
Thanks!!
Ah I love Destin! My brother actually got married there, did a destination wedding and it was phenomenal :) We stayed in condos and actually did a lot of cooking and grilling, so I ate well when we did that since I was in control of what I was eating. We just stocked up on fruits and veggies at the store and I was a happy lady.
I'm not going to lie to you, the restaurants were a little bit rough, particularly because I was at the mercy of a lot of omnis. In fact, I was the only veg there (I was still a vegetarian at the time, this was a few years ago). One night we even ended up at a steakhouse, and you can imagine how much I enjoyed that.
I'm not familiar with FWB but I did a fast google search for vegan friendly restaurants in Destin and came up with this http://www.urbanspoon.com/t/126/2/Destin/Vegan-Friendly-restaurants
I hope that helps :) I saw a few Mediterranean, Indian and Thai options and you can typically find a lot of yummy vegan options with these types of cuisine.
Have fun!!
Hi,
On the coastal shores of a quintessential southern beach town, known as Fort Walton Beach, lies the beautiful Okaloosa Island with its laid-back charm and family friendly attractions. Pristine sand dunes, aqua blue waters, an old-time boardwalk with restaurants, gift shops and live concerts are just a part of what makes Okaloosa Island a nostalgic and serene retreat.
I just love this place..
