What if a recipe doesn't turn out?

Hi everyone,

I'm super new to TKD and so far I've had mixed results with my recipes. Unfortunately, one of the hardest things for me is the amount of food that often ends up wasted when a recipe doesn't turn out. I don't have any pets, and my city doesn't offer composting opportunities at this time, so anything inedible just ends up in the trash. *sad*

I've started trying to scale the recipes back and only make enough for one meal until I know I've gotten it just right, but any other suggestions would be most welcome.

Thanks a million,

Tanya

What do you mean that they don't turn out? Just that you don't like them, or you are finding the ratios/ingredients don't work?

Hi Tanya- I had that trouble too, at first. Ok, so I still do :) One things I've learned is any veggie/rice combo that doesn't turn out right can easily be made into a pot pie. Make some gravy (vegan gravy is awesome) and a quick crust and it really uses everything up and adds some nice flavor! Good luck!

Yeah finding other uses for them is a great idea.

Sometimes i just chalk it up and eat the mess ive created lol, although if its really bad ill chuck it out. I also dont like wasting food. Which brings me back to i really must get a dehydrator soon, i leave behind a fair amount of pulp from juicing and could make veggie bites/crackers with the left over pulp.

powerlifer, you can also use some of your juicing pulp, like carrot and apple pulp, to make muffins! I also throw all my veggie scraps, including juicing pulp, into a sealed container in the freezer, and when it gets full I make homemake veggie stock with it.

Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for your ideas! I'll definitely keep on trying...that's really the only way you get better after all.
