eat low glycemic! especially for breakfast. low glycemic foods will help keep your blood sugar even so you dont spike and fall causing you to want to eat and eat! (i know exactly what you mean cause i have a huge problem with binging too). but when i start off the day right i am able to resist sweets and other stuff through out the day. when i am getting really bad i always do a cleanse to help reset my body! it helps. recipes from dr. neal bernard (author of go vegan get healthy and lots of other books) are usually low glycemic and very tasty b/c he works alot with diabetes. breads, potatoes, sweets, processed foods and even things like millet are all high glycemic so i always stay away from those in the morning!
hopes that helps :)
Dr. Neal Barnard is one of my favorite authors. I was reading a copy of "Food for Life" last night and he talked a bit about how your body will binge when it has experienced a lack of food after dieting. This is how all humans are biologically programmed.
The best discussion I've seen on preventing binge eating is in the following book:
"Breaking the Food Seduction: The Hidden Reasons Behind Food Cravings---And 7 Steps to End Them Naturally" by Dr. Neal Barnard
His assertion that food can be addictive is supported in a book by Dr. David Kessler (former head of the FDA) who also wrote a book on this topic. Dont' blame yourself. Any human being placed in the same circumstances will binge eat. Follow a methodical approach to ending the food additions we all encounter in our lives.
