Hi everyone! I got the P90X and was just wondering if anyone has done this series with having a Vegetarian or Vegan lifestyle and what they thought of it.....I am almost scared to start it LOL!! Looks scary lol!
I've been doing it for a year and a half...now I'm alternating Insanity with a week of P90X. Insanity is even harder than P90X and is mostly cardio. I have had no problem doing either of them with my diet. (I went vegan about 9 months ago.)
Start slowly and do what you can and listen when Tony says pause if you need to, because you will at first! But if you keep at it, you will be amazed at what you can accomplish! I used to say that P90X was the best thing I ever did, until I went vegan...now it's number 2! :)
I have finished 2 rounds of P90X and loved it! I almost felt like something was missing something during my off week between . . . I missed Tony's coaching! It is hard but not impossible! Tony gives you lots of options to modify if you need to and tells you over and over to take breaks if you need them, as Kiera mentioned. His whole motto is "Do your best and forget the rest!" and that is truly all you have to do. You will see great changes over the months. I was vegan the whole time and thus did not follow his nutrition plan or drink his recovery drinks. We just made green smoothies after with some added hemp protein. I am now doing some of the P90X plus workouts. I will be doing insanity when I am in South Africa for 2 months because I won't have access to weights or a gym. Insanity looks crazy hard, but it will be fun too!
It's AWESOME!!!! I have it although I dont follow it precisley as I'm a runner and am training mostly. I use P90x on the off days and LOVE it! It's tought but you WILL see results. I just started a discussion similar to yours!!! Like I said I'm a runner who is new to the Vegan diet and I have WAY more energy and feel like I'm stronger since giving up the nasty foods!!! Can't wait to see how my half marathon goes in two weeks!! Good like with P90!!!!
Tara, I have been doing the full P90X workout and running 5 milese 3 days a week on top of it . .. plus a kickboxing class because I love it! I have so much energy to do all this and people don't know how I do it, but I think the vegan diet helps a lot!
I am finishing my 2nd week of p90x! How many calories are you guys eating while doing it? Beach Body (and other BMR calculators) said I should eat 2100 calories, which is a lot! I'm trying to lose 10-15 lbs and currently eat 1350-1600 calories. I'm worried if I increase that much, I will gain (actually I know I will, my weight flucutates a lot, and mostly up recently!)
I would say you need to eat at least 1800 calories a day while you are doing P90X because it is so intense. If I eat any less than that, I will NOT lose weight because my body holds on to every bit of fat it can. But that's just my experience, and everybody's different, so experiment for yourself, but definitely try upping the calories a wee bit. I think you'll be surprised! :)
