Forks Over Knives was featured on Dr. Oz the other day - yay!

Here's a post with links to the video clips from the show and the Forks Over Knives movie trailer: http://sneakyvegan.blogspot.com/2011/04/forks-over-knives-on-dr-oz.html

Highlights:

AVOID AT ALL COSTS (not shocking): MEAT, DAIRY and PROCESSED FOODS

5 MUST-HAVES in your fridge:

Nutritional Yeast

Freeze-Dried Strawberries (20 times more antioxidants than fresh ones - wow)

Rhubarb (luckily it's in season now!)

Escarole

Bananas (made the banana "ice-cream" and it was divine!)

My mom has been following Dr. Esselstyn's nutrition plan for the past few months and has dramatically lowered her cholesterol to the point of being able to get off the statin meds that were killing her liver almost completely. She's also lost 7 pounds and her doctor says this is the healthiest she's ever been.

If my meat-eating mom who covers everything in butter and cheese can change her ways at the age of 67, believe me ANYONE can! Now instead of telling me what "nonsense" it all is, she is evangelizing louder than any vegan activist I know. Yay mom!

Wow that is interesting. I didn't get to watch because I was working but I heard it was a great show!! So by freeze-dried you just mean frozen right? Does that work if I buy fresh and freeze them myself? hmmm...

I love rhubarb! And nutritional yeast is growing on me. ;)

The actual process of freeze-drying looks a little more complicated than flat-out freezing, but it IS possible to do at home:http://www.ehow.com/how_8152895_make-freezedried-strawberries.html

According to the study, there are benefits to eating them fresh or frozen too: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703280904576246854013624530.html

Nutritional yeast is totally on my next grocery list!

Nutritional yeast is nice i like it on some gluten free bread now and again, like cheesy toast. Rich in amino acids and b vitamins.

That cant be his top 5 picks for anti-cancer foods though as broccoli would definitley be in the top 5 in my opinion from research ive done.
