I hate the argument that some meat-eaters use - that the animals are already dead - that me stopping eating meat is not going to make a difference to anything - it's such a pessimistic view of the world. Obviously animals are reared and killed on the basis of supply and demand - if there's people buying the meat they're going to keep killing animals and selling them. There's major inequalities in the world and for people to keep sitting back and saying that one person can't make a difference is ridiculous and selfish! Also, it never even enters people's minds about the effect that the rearing of animals for slaughter is having on the planet! All it takes is for one person and then another and then another and the ripple effect begins and hopefully someday the world will be healed!
