Ok - a while back I posted on here that I tried the Earth Balance buttery spread and it was terrible. It made me want to stop trying to give up dairy. i don't eat alot of butter, but when I do, I want it to taste good!
Well, it WAS terrible, I bought the one on sale, that's why i chose it out of the 5 that were there. I think it was the one without soy. I'm not exactly sure. And it tasted like plastic but worse, if that's possible. It made me gag and had a terrible aftertaste.
BUT, everyone posted how good it was. I thought you all were drinking the kool-aid and just had gone so long without real butter you forgot what it tasted like!
BUT! While at my Fresh & Easy I noticed they had an Earth Balance, whipped, "regular" buttery spread. It was nearly $5 but I decided to try this one.
And its great! YAY! now i'm feeling so much better about using it out on recipes and trying other dairy alternatives. It's not hard for me to give up meat, it has always grossed me out and i'm fine without it...its the dairy and the sugar that are tough for me. So yay! Thanks guys and I'm keeping on! :-)
Jacqui - That's awesome! I know it's hard when you give up something, but don't have a good replacement. It was that way with cheese for me. I was totally bummed about missing cheese (and had some slip-ups related to it in the early days). And within the past few months my grocery store started carrying 2 amazing brands of vegan cheese that I just LOVE (Daiya and Teese). I was (and still am) SOO ecstatic over it, so I can understand your enthusiasm over finding a vegan butter that you enjoy!! :-) *And, side note...I'm with you on the sugar too...that's been the toughest one for me and the one I slip up on most.
