Hi Everyone!
So I've read about how Coconut Oil is supposed to have tremendous health benefits, especially in fighting candida and other infections. I bought some, but whenever I eat something with it, it makes me REALLY nauseous. Whenever I eat Daiya cheeze, which has coconut oil in it, I'm fine though. Has anyone else gotten nauseous from coconut oil? And do I maybe just need to start in small increments and work my way up? Let me know!

Coconut oil is very high in fat. It's a food that is touted by those profiting from its sale, but the reality is that it is off the list of foods for people who eat a low-fat whole plant based diet. Excess oil, even vegetable oils, are not healthy. The only oil I consume is in the form of ground flax seeds.

Don't base your food decisions using mass media empire content. The information is misleading and often an outright lie.
Did you get virgin coconut oil? I heard (somewhere..) that processing it is where the bad fats enter.. I use organic, extra virgin, cold pressed coconut oil and have had no problems.. If you have some left, and still makes you nauseous you can always use it as a moisterizer! It's an excellent moisterizer :)
Keri,
If, as Terra mentioned, you got the good quality extra virgin coconut oil, it is possible that your nausea is caused by the anti-fungal detoxifying effects of the stuff. It's also possible that you're someone who doesn't digest fat well (however if you're eating other kinds of fat without trouble, that is not it.) I adore coconut oil and it's the only oil I cook with nowadays. I would start with a small amount every day and give it time. If that doesn't help, maybe it's not the right oil for you. Terra is also right about it being a good moisturizer. I put it on my face twice a day and it actually helped clear my acne. Counterintuitive but true!!
its great in hair too, just make sure you wash it out after or else itll look really greasy. and come on, as a vegan we dont really eat that much fat so i think coconut oil is fine right? im so tired of meateaters telling me how "fattining" it is!
