Superhero in a tropical climate?

Hey Alicia! And anyone else who might be able to answer my question :). I'm looking into going Superhero, but I live in Southwest Florida. I know that macrobiotics advises against tropical fruits and vegetables, but I live where many of them naturally grow. Am I supposed to eat locally, or still avoid these things regardless of living here?
Hi Keri :)
I am in Western Australia and we are very tropical here too. I adjust accordingly and use what is in season but still eat macrobiotically.
Just a thought but the book 'Clean Food' is a great one with seasonal recipes etc and really is an amazing book.
Superhero can work wherever you live, you just need to tweak things to suit yourself :) Hope this helps x
Hey Keri:) I live in Melbourne(Fla). I feel your confusion. For me, I go with my intuition, yes we have pineapples, coconuts and mangoes and avocados here, and if I feel I really need it, I have it. I just make sure I balance my diet accordingly. As I've been practicing Super Hero-ness I've found that I require less of those foods, except avocado and coconut water/oil. Just go with your gut:) and don't sweat it:)
I live in Hawai'i and I'm a superhero too. However macrobiotics is all about what's fresh and local in your food zone,so there's nothing wrong with eating fruit.Just not a whole pineapple! I've been having a little fresh pinapple, papaya, apple bananas. We need the vitamins and nutrients in fruit! Enjoy your food, not worry about it!
