Just wondering if there are any other young families from Edmonton, Alberta on this forum.

I am a mother of two young boys. We have just switched from ovo-lacto vegetarian to vegan...at least my 6 year old and I have. I am hoping to replace my 3 year old's dairy addiction with some yummy vegan foods so he will forget about his cravings. My husband isn't planning on going vegan, but I do all of the cooking ;0) I need some new family favorites s.t.a.t.!

I am in Beaumont, Alberta; but honestly am having a tough time with the transition from flexitarian to ovo-lacto, so I am likely no help to you! I would love any advice you can give me about helping my kids to switch, and helping me to get my butt in gear.

I am not a "meat lover" by any stretch, and have been eating a much more veggie rich diet, but am finding myself in a salad rut and would love to have the confidence to spread my wings and really dig deep into some delicious recipes. My kids are 2 and 4, and I am a single mom; I eventually would love to go vegan, but it seems to be difficult to find some of the ingredients called for in recipes that I have found.

Wish I could help, unfortunately I likely need more help than you do!! I hope you find some great recipes and I will be watching this thread to see what I can learn as well.

Hi Jerralyn! When I transitioned to ovo-lacto, I felt a lot of pressure and pretty stressed trying to figure out what in the world to make for my family. I feel you there :0) I can definitely help you out with some suggestions. I'll make up a list of things that we ate and message you within the next few days or so. You'll do great. It's just a matter of working through the transition period and not giving up. It does get easier and you will find your groove (I'm reminding myself of that for our vegan journey as well ;0)

Thanks for the support! It does seem like such a huge difference...and yet when I really think about it, I feel like it should be easy...add veggies and take away meat! lol I would very much appreciate any suggestions that you have because some days I just don't know what I am supposed to do. It is easy for me because I love veggies and black beans etc. but the kids are having a harder time getting used to the changes and they don't seem to be as excited about some of the foods that I would like to cook.

Yay, I am so happy to see some other moms of young children on this blog. I've just started transitioning to vegan three weeks ago and could use some advice and recipes and also just other moms to talk through the transition with. My husband is not too keen on the vegan idea but he is willing to switch to vegetarian so I'm happy he's moving in the right direction. My daughters are 18 months and just about 4 so they will pretty much eat whatever I offer. The struggle for me is coffee creamer, whipped cream, cream cheese, and cheeses like provolone, feta, etc. I don't use the cheeses that often but I sure am wanting them now that I am not eating them lol. Anyway it would be great to chat with you both and see how you're doing since these posts last year. Message me please or reply to this post.
