Protein Bars?

Sorry if this has been asked before, I'm new here.

I recently made the switch from lacto/ovo-vegetarian to vegan (I'm in the transitional period). For years, I've relied heavily on protein bars for quick easy snacks that give me a boost throughout the day. I'm usually busy with either school or work so I always need something I don't have to prepare and can just throw in my bag that will give me a boost and be healthy. I used to eat kashi, cliff, a think thin bars all the time because they were tasty, had good ingredients and lots of protein. I also like to eat them before and after workouts. Thus, these bars have been probably the single hardest think to relinguish for me! I just simply havent had time to find a good subsitute and they are always in my house for my parents and sister so I guiltily grab them on the way to work.

Does anyone know of a good vegan protein bar, or similarly easyand nutritious snack? Thanks!

There are many great vegan protein bars, You have Vega wholefood energy bars which are rich in protein and other goodies.

Builder bars which are made by the same company as Cliff if i remember are vegan. There are a few others also i will post back when i remember.

Some of the Luna or Cliff bars are vegan and all Larabars are raw & vegan, but they do have a lot of sugar. For someone in transition, go for it. Whatever you need to do what you can to help you transition. But once you're comfortably in the vegan you might want to avoid ones with a lot of sugar.

Another option are the Simply Bars

And I always have a ProBar in my purse in case I need it, but I'm not sure if they are "protein" centered.

Have you ever tried a "Green Monster" smoothie? They are my absolute favorite for a quick fix and energy. I know you said you don't want something you have to prepare so I won't go too much into it. You may want to get your protein bars for when you're out and about but when you're at home, for breakfast before school or post-workout, you may want to just try one. The energy and protein you can pack in these is insane!

I hope this helps!

Thanks guys this helps a lot! I had just assumed builder bars weren't vegan, they are my favorite so that's fantastic! And I've never tried a Green Monster, but I definitely will! :)

Also if its a protein shake you want id recommend sunwarrior raw protein. It is the smoothest, good tasting, has an amazing amino acid profile and is very digestible.

Oskri has delicious quinoa bars sweetened with date syrup and sesame seeds.Only downside is they crumble and break into pieces really easily,if they aren't that way on the shelf already.I brought one with me on the plane this month and it was great, full of protein, not too heavy like other bars.

I love Lara bars but not all of them are vegan! The peanut butter chocolate chip, brownie chocolate chip and cookies and cream chocolate chip are not.

I'd also suggest just carrying around raw nuts to snack on. Great balance of carbs/protein/fat and no sugar.

I found a great one at my local Co-op called Nu GO Organic...they come in a couple different flavors but my favorite is the Double Dark Chocolate, yum! I don't eat them very often, but they are great to have on hand for those times you are on the go...or want something sweet!

Don't give up those protein bars, Alyssa. You're right. They are tasty and great for you with lots of protein and good ingredients.

Sara Lynn mentioned The Simply Bar. Thanks, Sara Lynn - glad you like them!

The Simply Bar is loved by vegans! Each bar has only 10 ingredients and you can pronounce them all.

Alyssa, we'd love to offer a FREE BAR for you to try (and anyone else perusing this post here at The Kind Life). We've created this exclusive coupon. Just use coupon code FREEBARKINDLIFE at checkout and we'll ship it free, too! Enjoy!

Sara Lynn - make sure you use that coupon, too! Maybe you can try a new flavor?
