Hi,

Was wondering if any knows if making overnight oats qualifies as superhero/macrobiotic. I find that I am not having enough time to make breakfast in the morning and came across this option online. Does anyone know how to make em?

Thanks!

I think mainly it is just soaking them in the fridge overnight to soften them up and shorten the cooking time. They come out extra creamy too. No big secret, really. Just the usually 2:1 ratio of water:oats, soaked in the fridge. Add extra water in the morning if you have to. Whole oats with a bit of maple syrup or brown rice syrup are totally superhero, in my opinion.

I don't care for overnight oats, personally, but here's a recipe from the blog Oh She Glows:

You can do variations. I think it gets too mushy, personally (actually it makes me gag), but plenty of people like it. For a quick breakfast, I prefer Alicia's Quick Apple Date Oatmeal (or something like that), but I only use 1/2-3/4 a cup of oats and about half the fruit she has in the recipe. You could prepare the ingredients ahead of time - just chop them - then put it all together in the morning.
