Hi,

I was just starting to be vegan when I got pregnant..I've posted comments here on this, but just wanted to check in today and get feedback..anyways, I was vegan for about 6 months before I got pregnant, and then had issues with eating tofu and beans, and allergic to gluten so I was worried about protein. I stopped vegan, was veganish, and now I want to be vegan again. I miss that light feeling and I was losing weight. However, I just can't seem to do it. I eat some fish, and some eggs and I feel heavier as I eat them but I can't seem to get back into the mind frame again to be vegan. I want to lose weight, but am breastfeeding so don't want to not get enough calories and I heard toxins can get released into milk if you lose more than 1.5 pounds/week. any helpful advice?

Kaetlin,

Can you eat beans and tofu now that you've had your baby? Those are excellent souces of protein .. although most foods do have protein in them, and it's pretty hard to get deficient.

If digestive issues were the reason you stopped the beans and tofu, you may be able to tolerate them a bit better if you try them again. It's something your body seems to get used to .. at least that's how it worked for me.

I think the best way to stay vegan is to get rid of everything that's not vegan and then also have a good idea of what your meal plans are going to be. It's really easy to get frustrated when you're hungry and tired and make poor choices, so having things organized eally helps, I think.

thank you Lisa, that's part of the problem..my fiance is not vegan. Though, he is fine with eating what I cook, sometimes he gets people telling him and people tell me too everything wrong with being vegan. So annoying!
