Hi all. I started going vegan this last month and I just got comfortable cutting the cheese out....I still slip every once and a while. But my question is that I live in Hawaii and while there is plenty of fruit and veggies here....I'm curiuos if I should be living a more raw lifestyle in this climate as opposed to a diet with cooked foods. I know that I need cooling foods, but most of the recipes in the book are very warming to me. Is there anything that I can do to tweak it a bit for the climate I'm living in?

Hi Holli! Here are a couple recipes I like that are more cooling:

Refreshing cucumber salad with creamy mint dressing: http://ohsheglows.com/2011/06/01/refreshing-cucumber-salad-with-creamy-mint-dressing-2/

Gingered carrot soup with sage (delicious as a cold soup!): http://www.sweetsaltyspicy.net/2010/08/downtown-again.html

Ratatouille (good cold too): http://www.sweetsaltyspicy.net/2010/11/ratatouille.html

Refreshing date & orange couscous salad: http://www.sweetsaltyspicy.net/2011/01/refreshing-date-orange-couscous-salad.html

Also, for breakfast, did you try vegan overnight oats? They're cold oatmeal! Here is a post about them: http://ohsheglows.com/2011/02/01/carob-banana-chia-vegan-overnight-oats/

And as a snack/dessert, there is banana soft serve: http://www.choosingraw.com/this-post-will-change-your-life/

Oh thank you Charlie!!! That really helps! :) I love my warm fall foods sooooooooooo much but I just noticed that I feel so sleepy and just want to cozy up sometimes. :) haha. So I think maybe these cooling foods will help with that. Thanks again!
