My teeny tiny small town grocer has agreed to start carrying Daiya cheese (shredded.) I'm thrilled! Does anyone have any suggestions for cooking / using this product? A "go to" snack for me was a simple corn tortilla w/a bit of shredded cheese and some hot sauce, I'm looking forward to my tortilla snack.

I use it all of the time in black bean quesadilla's. My almost 4 year old likes to eat it by the handful which I try to discourage since even thought it's not bad for you, it doesn't offer a lot nutritionally. lol

Daiya is wonderful!! I use it to bridge the gap between myself and my non-vegan boyfriend.

My favorite dishes to use Daiya on are lasagna, tacos/nachos, and pasta. Actually, tonight my good friend is cooking us dinner at her place, and I'm the only vegan. Since my friend is on Weight Watchers, she's making wheat pasta with spaghetti sauce and cheesy garlic bread. I told her I'll bring the Daiya and she can try it...I'm excited she's going to give it a shot! So, I guess cheesy garlic bread can be added to my list of useful Daiya recipes :)

Thanks y'all for your input. I've been living Vegan Mon-FriDay, then starting Friday nites, allowing myself some cheese here and there for the weekend, so my husband and I can eat "together" a bit more. I can really feel the difference Sat/Sun mornings, esp on those cheesier evenings. It will be nice to be able to put together some consecutive vegan weeks.....to see how my body really benefits.

It's good for pizza and topping chili.

Just bought the Daiya Mozzarella shredded cheese and I hope it tastes better cooked bc I opened up the package and tried some and I thought it was gross :/ I'm starting to think there is no substitute for "real" cheese

Daiya is kind of gross cold (as are most fake "cheeses"), but tastes wonderful once cooked/baked/melted.

Daiya is soooo good on pizzas! If you also like Brussels sprouts, here is a fun recipe to try :) http://www.spotlightonhealthyliving.com/roasted-brussels-sprouts-pizza/

Just had daiya on my mushroom, onion, pepper and broccoli pizza last night. Yummy! But absolutely do not eat it cold. Not good. I also love it in quesadillas and on nachos when I'm just craving something salty, fatty, gooey. Not every day, but it is a great treat. Oh, and I much, much prefer the mozzerella style shreds to their other flavors.
