Have you ever heard of vega products at myvega.com? I was wondering about them.

I thought the products were really grainy and gross, but I know that lot of people on here really like them...guess it's all just a matter of personal taste/preference...

Vega has a chocolate smoothie mix. The instructions say to just mix it with plain water and shake it up, but that sounds terrible to me. I mix it with a cup of soymilk, a banana and some ice and blend it into a smoothie. It is delish! A nice way to get some extra protein in on workout days.

I just bought a med. sized jar of the whole food optimizer in the chocolate flavour. Haven't tried it yet, though.

Kim- Before I bought it I did some research on it, and read all through their website. They recommend mixing it with non-dairy milks, or even fruit juie (I guess depending on the flavour) so not sure why they only state to mix with water on the actual product. I bought a single package of the sport one to try before my workout and mixed it with water and thought it tasted like bitter, watery, kool-aid (of course I know this from pre-veg days!). I thik the sport one would taste much better with juice for anyone out there looking to try.

Agreed, I LOVE my Vega mix before or after workouts as well as a meal replacement from time to time (great when travelling!). I also find that it tastes AWFUL if simply added to water! I enjoy using one scoop (any flavour) mixed with one cup of frozen fruit and one cup non-dairy milk. Any suggestions on where to buy Vega at a reasonable price in Canada? Right now I'm getting it from Superstore...but not all locations carry it.

I tried the pea protein one, whichever one has the pale green label, a couple years ago and it gave me heart palpitations. Very scary. And yes, I followed the directions and never made it past half a scoop. After three weeks I had to stop using it as my heart was just scaring me. The problems went away after I stopped using the Vega powder and it was the only new thing I was adding to my diet. I've been on some other vegan boards and have learned I'm not alone in having a reaction to Vega powder. Not a lot of people have had this problem but I'd suggest just paying attention to your body when you're taking it. It also doesn't taste very good so if you do go with the one I tried make sure to add lots of fruit or chocolate to even out or hide the taste as it's not pleasant by itself as I learned the hard way. lol! ; )
