I can't find mochi anywhere but i did find sweet rice flour with a recipe for cocoa mochi on the back. So I made it. It tasted amazing, but when I tried to fry it or make a waffle out of it, it just melted. It turned into this delicious waffle-that-wasn't. Has anyone tried making mochi from scratch? Does anyone eat it without waffling or frying it? It's still good, just really melty. Anybody?
I have had this same problem with fresh mochi. I let it dry out a little before I use it for waffles. My hawaiian co-worker makes it fresh sometimes and I LOVE it but the packaged really does fry/waffle better. You can eat it plain, I like it with a little fruit jam. I hope you find a workable recipe!!
Hi there! I only found the famous mochi in a rice-like form - so whole grains! Help, what do I have to do with them???
