I just became a vegan with the help of my friend Leanna and watching Alicia on Oprah. My husband and I go out on date nights every week and he showed his support by taking me to a vegan place called Simple Joy. It was awesome, delicious, and interesting. I live on Oahu so there isn't a lot of places like this but this one is my favorite.

On Maui we found a great little health foods store, like a mini Whole Foods. Can't remember the name of it, but it was great. And there was a coffee/smoothie stand close by on the same road.

Hi! I am from Honolulu and go back to visit often when my grad school schedule allows. Places I go to are:

Peace Cafe (http://www.peacecafehawaii.com/) MY FAVORITE! Order the Heart & Soul you'll love it. Actually You'll love everything here.

Down to Earth (http://www.downtoearth.org/) They have the best buffet style eats, and vegan manapuas, shakes and baked goods are vegan. I like the one in Manoa next to UH.

Whole Foods at Kahala Mall is good too.

Loving Hut, you like Simple Joy so you'll like their food also Vietnamese influenced. One on Pensacola St. and on King Street.

Spices (http://spiceshawaii.com/default.aspx) you'll like too. Owner was very knowledgable about the vegan diet. Although this place is not all vegan he can pretty much turn anything on the menu vegan.

Vegetarian Dim Sum Legends (http://www.yelp.com/biz/legend-vegetarian-restaurant-honolulu) you have to go HERE! It's a veggie dim sum right across the famous Legends Dim Sum in Chinatown. They are AMAZING!!!! It's always nice to see the monks there eating next to you too hehe.

Those are the top choices. Then of course you can head down to Ala Moana and hit up Macaroni Grill where you can create your own pasta, and CPK where you can order a vegan pizza (thin crust, veggies, no cheese), or go to Spaghetti Factory where you can have the marinara sauce.

Here's a site that will help you. Enjoy! http://www.vsh.org/Veg-Friendly-Businesses.htm

Hello fellow Vegans! Vegan food is so easy to make, plus I find a lot of people are open and receptive to it here.Don't forget Kokua Market,I refuse to support Whole Foods.smiley-yell.gif

Oh yea!!! KOKUA MARKET!!! I totally forgot. They are great! It's actually right down the street from Down to Earth near UH Manoa. They have great raw food. The chef is raw too and actually worked at a famous raw food restaurant in Cali. Their steamed taro in the refrigerated grab and go food section is so ono.
