Eczema

As a child I suffered with eczema and although it has mostly cleared up since then, occassionally I still have mild outbreaks, for example if I eat a lot of acidic foods. I have been following a vegan diet for 3 weeks and in the past couple of days I have noticed very mild eczema flaring up on my arms in patches between my inner elbow and my hands. Although it is very mild, the area effected is quite large and I'm wondering if it is something to do with my change in diet. I did start using a new handcream before I turned vegan (a month or so ago) but the eczema has only flared up in the past week or so, so I'm not sure if it is that. Any ideas? I followed a vegan diet a couple of years ago for a few months and this didn't happen.

I'm not sure about the reason for your flare up...but I know I suffered very, very mild eczema, but it was enough to be a nuisance. I started using Spirulina Powder, just in the Crocodile Cruch recipe Alicia gives in her book, and it completely disappeared! I haven't even eaten it for about a month, and still no eczema. Hope this helps (:

I never had eczema until I became a vegan. It started about 2 years after I was fully vegan and I started tracking my outbreaks. I realized they occurred after I'd go out to eat. For me it seems as tho whenever there is cross contamination I break out. For example if I ask for steamed veggies and maybe there was butter on the grill before I may break out. Dairy is one of the most common allergies and I'm fairly certain thats what happened to me. I no longer eat out anymore and the break outs stopped.

Start tracking everything you're eating in a book. Since break outs don't normally occur until 2 days or so after you conusmed the product you'll have to back track and figure out what it is that is making it happen to you.

Hello, my son was born with severe Eczema which is the first symptom of having food allergies. After years searching and learning what works for him, we found that one, eating a healthier diet helps but also detoxing his body daily.

We use Waiora's Natural Cellular Defense: www.myncd.com/809934

Toxins are everywhere, food we eat, air we breath, water we drink, etc... Unless you eat true organic vegetables, you might want to consider trying NCD. It's worked for him, it's safe, and it may help. Good luck!

Hemp seeds, hemp oil etc... are very good for eczema and psoriasis. I have psoriasis and when I'm good about taking in enough hemp, it definitely goes down.

I have psoriasis and since going vegan it has flared up, on my face of all places! It seems, however, to be impacted by the products I put on my skin, and sometimes it is a delayed reaction. So I would suspect it is the change in hand cream that is causing your eczema to flare. Since going vegan I have also switched cleansers around trying to find something more eco friendly and cruelty free. I believe that is the cause of my flare up.

Avoid using over hot water.

Try to use soft towels not old scratchy ones.

Always keep you skin clean to help minimise infection.
