Field Roast-any good??

Saw someone post about the vegan company, 'Field Roast.' Has anyone ever tried any of their products? My mother and I recently went vegetarian and questions about things like Thanksgiving have been coming up among others. I'm thinking ordering something like this could work for us. I noticed they have a celebration roast. I believe they are made with grains. Mock meats make me nervous and I'm wondering if this is any different? Thanks :)
Field Roast make some excellent products - we really like them. Unlike a lot of other "mock meat" products, they really aren't trying to taste like meat, I don't think, which appeals to me. They are made with grain rather than soy, so if you are worried about getting too much soy in your diet, they are a good choice (but if you're needing to be gluten-free, not so much). We have their regular Celebration Roasts once in awhile (my kids like to make sandwiches out of them too). They make a special roast around the holidays that's wrapped in a pastry crust that was REALLY yummy. And their "sausages" - so good!
Field roast is wonderful. Its basically artisan seitan products. I made this for thanksgiving last year http://vegandad.blogspot.com/2008/10/seitan-roast-with-wild-rice-and.html
which is basically a homeade version of the celebration roast. We use the field roast chorizos for tacos and I think they are really wonderful. There is no isolated soy protien like in other mock meats and they use really good quality ingredients. Also they are a cool company because they purposfully use the word grain meat and not "fake" meat.
Field roast is yummy. I use their products when the rest of the family is having an omni meal that I don't want to miss out on.
LOVE Field Roast sausages. We have them a couple of times a week. There are also a couple of older threads on this board about Field Roast products.
I tried the italian field roast sausages, and was a little disappointed - they were just like really, REALLY seasoned. I love the fennel/italian seasonings flavor but it was pretty intense for me. Maybe if I had incorporated them into a sauce rather than grilling on its own I would have liked them better. Has anyone else tried other flavors that are a little milder? I'd give them another shot.
Smoked Apple Sage is my favorite. I like the Italian though it is a little intense (it is very good with tomato sauce); the other flavor is chorizo, which is too spicy for me.
The Smoked Apple Sage is by far my favorite field roast sausage too. The Chorizo is pretty spicy but my husband loves them. I agree the Italian is extremely seasoned - we usually have them in something like spaghetti or lasagna, which works well.
Oh my gosh, the Field Roast smoked apple sage sausage is AWESOME. I love this sausage. Please try!
Thanks for the feedback everyone! I'll definitely have to give it a try....looks like people love the smoked apple sausage. I'm drawn to the grain idea of it all. So great to have a place to come to since I'm brand new at all this. Claire, that's an impressive spread you made!
