I love nuts, nut butters, seeds and all legumes...I do not love fake meats, tofu, tempeh or sietan. Is it okay to get all of my protein from legumes and nuts??? Also, I do like brown rice, oats and cous cous...not a big fan of the protein rich quinoa yet though! I know eventually these foods may grow on me, but is it healthy to only rely on the proteins I enjoy? Thanks!

I avoid fake meats except on random occasions. I get all of my protein form the sources that you listed like nuts and legumes. I live on brown rice, quinoa sometimes but it's not my favorite either. I also love Bragg's Liquid Aminos which help you to get the amino acids that you need to make protein in your body!

thanks for the responses! I do enjoy a variety of fruits and veggies, in fact I like all veggies and fruits! I was feeling insecure about relying on legumes, nuts and the like because I read so much about tofu and tempeh, etc. I just don't really like them. Thanks!

Tofu and soya in general is a great protein source but you can get on fine without it pending your getting a variety of different foods and enough calories.

I am vegan & have just started using spirulina the past couple of days......WOW!

The energy is seriously amazing!

Best wishes everyone!!smiley-innocent.gif

Spirulina has the highest protein of any natural food (65%); far more than animal and fish flesh (15-25%)*spirulinasource.com

Spirulina is a superfood algae which is rich in amino acids(protein), vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients and other goodies.

Chlorella is equally as good if not better in my opinion.

This is good news..I am just getting started with primarily plant based diet and the protein question seems to be the one everyone asks about.

Question about the spirulina... do you drink it with juices or add it to food? I have had it in a juice or smoothie combo but not sure what to do with it otherwise.

Thanks
