Hi guys,

I started flirting with the vegan diet almost a month ago and have found I am developing a lot of acne! It's yucky and embarassing. I used to have some normal once a month hormonal acne(no biggie) and cleared it up with Clinique acne solutions but all the sudden with the vegan diet I am all broken out again. I know Alicia said this might happen as I am detoxing and removing all the animal products from my diet but how long in your experience will I continue to have this painful acne?

Thanks so much!

Samantha

This is odd, what type of new foods have you introduced to your diet? Could possibly be an allergic reaction to a new food type such as soya, which is a common allergen.

As you say acne is caused by an imbalance of hormones, androgens in particular. Supporting the liver with bitter herbs on the back of the tongue(cleanses the liver), liver support herbs such as milk thistle and B vitamins from food sources will help your liver break down the excess hormones.
