Hey Diandra!
I was in a similar boat about a year ago when I was searching high and low for a nutrition school that was both possible for me to attend and in line with my beliefs and ethics. Normally I would say everyone is different and should seek out the school that best fits their interests, but from your post I can see that the school I ended up attending, the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, would be perfect for you, too.
I enrolled in the distance learning program in January, and can't begin to describe how my life has been transformed since. Your desire to open a business is just perfect because IIN is the only nutrition school that provides a literally world-renowned education in holistic health and nutrition, while simultaneously teaching you EVERYTHING you need to know about starting your own business. When I first started, I just wanted to further my education to improve my health and that of my family, but 9 months in, I'm about to launch my own private health counseling practice and have 13 people lined up to be my clients when it opens. And yeah, I've revolutionized my personal life. Weirdly, the idea of running a business was not only foreign but also totally unappealing to me before coming to IIN. Now, I feel like anything is possible.
IIN might be the perfect way for you to pursue your passion (and get certified by an accredited school, get continuing education credits from Purchase College and become a member of the American Association of Drugless Practitioners). Feel free to get in touch with me at kristina@rootsandladders.net--I'd love to answer any specific questions for you.
Also I should mention that even though IIN doesn't tote itself as having a vegan-centered curriculum (it aims to have students decide for themselves by the end), of the 100 dietary theories we explore in-depth, veganism and its raw food, macrobiotic, fruitarian, juicing, etc. siblings is the clear love of IIN.
