Cooking with coconut oil

I have seen liquid coconut oil and solid. Does anyone know if in a receipe that calls for coconut oil, would I use the solid and melt it? Or just use as a solid? Hope this makes sense. thanks for your help.

Solid and liquid coconut oil are one in the same. It is solid when cool and liquid when at a warmer temp.
