Hey everybody,

I'll just get straight into it. After my first dip with being vegan I went a long time as an omnivore. I've never really eaten a lot of meat, it's usally dairy that gets me. I moved out to NY and I decided that, after having wanting to be vegan for months, that I would give it a try. I dove in and re-read some of the book and went grocery shopping. I made it TWO days, before I went..I guess it would be vegetarian. And then I tried again, fail, fail and then I decided maybe I should take a smaller step and go veggie. Well...that lasted..maybe an hour and then I failed big time. And I just keep failing! I work at Starbucks..and we have a lot of tasty looking treats..none of which are vegan..and I eat those..a lot. I want to go vegan, I know it's healthy for me, among all the other benefits. But I just keep having so many issues!

Any advice? I might feel that I'm restricting myself, so then I rebel. Maybe my shopping/ cooking needs work.

Thanks in advance!

Well first of all figure out why you want to be vegan? read up about those reasons and then everytime you see something delicious that is not vegan remember that it doesn't allign with your values. I think thats the most important part, if you don't TRUELY believe in not eating dairy then it will be a lot harder not to indulge. For me everytime I think about butter or milk I remember that a cow (even at a friendly far) that produces milk is trying to make milk, they impregant a cow and then take away its baby and serve it up as veal. Imagine someone taking away a baby and then milking a cow so that you can have a baked good, or butter things. For me that just doens't seem fair or worth it, I'd rather go with out, especially because vegan butter tastes delicious! Also see every non-vegan treat as a challenge, everytime I see something delicious with cheese or eggs I think I bet I can find a recipie and make a better one and so far I can. Bacon, Mozz Sticks, Grilled Cheese, you name it you can veganize it.
