I know there's tons of veg*n restaurants/cafés in New York, but I want to know which one you think is OUT OF THIS WORLD!! (we're esp. looking for establishments in Manhattan and Richmond Hill) We'll be spending several days there so we'll have time to try a few and want options for brunch, lunch and dinner. Suggestions??
I love Sacred Chow in the West Village.
Candle 79
Souen Restaurant if you want superhero eats!
Hangawi Restaurant was so gooooood
Oh and if you're in the Time Square area then a quick bit to eat is at Green Symphony. They have a hot and cold food bar with a lot of vegan stuff. It's a little natural foods grocery store. There's really no where else to grab vegan eats in Times Square besides here.
Candle 79 HANDS DOWN. It's incredible and don't worry about bringing omnivores because the food is increible and everyone I know has been blown away by every bit of everything. I like other places too, but this is relaly the best. But make sure you make reservations because its always packed.
I don't live in the city.. just visited a few days ago. I dragged my bf to Blossom on 9th street I think it is.. he eats meat but while we were eating there, he said "I could go vegan easily if we ate like this!" lol It was cute. The food was awesome.
I ate at Candle 79. It was very good, but I felt like the atmosphere was different, and we were definitely rushed by our waiter. Not cool.
We just got back and our favourite restaurant was Hangawi. AMAZING!! I also really liked Candle 79, although my husband thought his food was a little bland...
Thx to everyone for your suggestions =)
Wow, I realize this thread is a bit old, but no one mentioned Angelica Kitchen! One of my absolute favorite restaurants- totally vegan :)
The Simple Kitchen at 361 W. 17th St. 212-924-0600. They cooked a delicious meal for me, one who has Celiac Disease and many food allergies (soy, dairy, yeast). The chef who is highly trained visited our table to make sure we all enjoyed the food. Impressive.
There's also Franchia http://www.franchia.com/ It's a teahouse and is Hangawi's sister restaurant. Wonderful food, tranquil atmosphere.
I have to second the Green Symphony mention. They make a kale/almond butter/banana smoothie that's addictive and they have a lot of vegan (and non-vegan for omni friends) prepared food. It's on 43rd Street between 7th and 8th Avenues.
