Does anyone have any good vegan cookbooks, including any dessert books, that they could suggest to me? I'm not looking for anything too extreme, just some good books that I can make family meals with.

My favorite is "Quick and Easy Vegan Comfort Food" by Alicia C. Simpson. I use it ALL the time!! Full of all kinds of recipes that are "normal" stuff (like enchiladas, fettuccine alfredo, soups) that really are relatively quick and easy to make. I've never been too big into cooking, but this is great!

Veganomicon (Moskowitz) is an amazing book! I've also got Alicia's book, Peas and Thank You (her Double Chocolate, Single Chin brownies are awesome.. plus she has a website, too) and I just bought The Complete Guide to Vegan Food Substitutions by Celine Steen and I love it! Very informative and makes it super easy to veganize pretty much anything!

Absolute best vegan dessert cookbook: "Sweet Vegan" by Emily Mainquist

Everyday fare favorites: "Skinny Bitch: The Ultimate Everyday Cookbook" by Kim Barnouin; "Clean Food" by Terry Walters; "Happy Herbivore" by Lindsay Nixon

My family loves www.happyherbivore.com and her cookbook. She has an icon for "kid approved" recipes, so my son looks for the smiley face and then asks me to make him stuff.

I've also just learned about Peas and thank you http://peasandthankyou.com/ I got the book but haven't made anything yet. Her blog cracks me up!

Of course the Vegan Cupcakes take over the world is awesome too.

This is sort of off the subject, but I have never posted a comment before and I am semi new to the vegan way of life. I have several vegan books, including the "The Kind Diet" and I just watched the documentary, "Forks Over Knives." I am READY to commit to being a vegan!!!! I live in St.Louis, MO and I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to find a doctor that can help me stop taking meds for depression and adopt a plant based diet safely. Please help!.......Thanks <3
