Halloween costume

Hi, folks, I'm going to have a party on the coming Halloween, so I want to do some make-up and costume to make me really special. :) hmm, I want to hear your advices about what style would be popular this season. Thanks a lot.
Hello? no one want to help? I have really poor knowledge about make-up and costume stuff. So, is it a safe way to just wear a mask? Have done some search homework on Google, come across this site, http://www.shopsimple.com/promotion/halloween-sale-off.html Seems the pumpkin style is really cool. Any ideas about this?
Vampires are probably in at this point, what with TrueBlood/Twilight/all the teen romance novels. It seems like a lot of stores now have a section sepecifically for vampires (here's an example). If not, pirates and Internet-humor based costumes are always solid.
