Hi all! Oddly, I found myself wanting a hotdog recently and was wondering which vegan ones are everyones faves...I have tried a couple vegan dogs but cant seem to find one that doesn't have an overbearing smokey taste. If anyone has a favorite that is not too smokey I would love to hear about it. Thanks in advance!
I like Smart Dogs, but mainly because they don't have a lot of flavor. For me, hot dogs are all about the chili!
thanks ladies I will definitely try these!
I agree with Smart Dogs. I LOVE hot dogs too - it was the meat item hardest for me to give up. I think the flavor is very much like meat hot dogs, and when you add ketchup, mustard, or whatever, it tastes just the same to me.
I have done well with the Yves Good Dog product, but was really disappointed to find on my new package that they've now added cane syrup to the ingredient list.
They were the only unsweetened Yves product and I'd even pestered my Kroger and WF to stock them because the other products were sweetened.
Not sure why they changed it. I didn't notice any taste change but I won't be buying them again after this package is finished.
If you're OK with sweeteners, they have a full range of products available in mainstream grocers.

Smart dogs are my go to hot dog as well, I am all about the sauerkraut, and other toppings!!
You HAVE to try Field Roast frankfurters. Field Roast sausages have always been a favorite of mine (especially Apple Sage) but they recently came out with a line of frankfurters! SO good in an Ezekiel sprouted grain hot dog bun with Daiya, sauerkraut, and mustard. Yum.
Sounds delicious! I am excited to try the feild roast line!
I tried the apple sage sausages recently and a little disappointed. I usually heat up hot dog/sausage alternatives in my toaster oven and with the field roast sausage it was pretty dry (the Yves ones do fine). It helps if you cook them in a thin sauce but for me that is a bit much work for what I buy sauages for! I buy them for those days that I'm feeling lazy and don't want to do anything
