my boy has been vegan since conception. i make all his purees from scratch, he likes to eat a lot. a typical day could be breakfast..oatmeal cereal with a pureed fruit mixed in, lunch..avocado and banana mashed together, a piece of sprouted grain toast,snack..soy yogurt mixed with apple puree,dinner..brown rice cereal, carrots pureed with chickpeas and mango chunks for dessert. all the soy he consumes is organic. he has vitamin d mixed with his oatmeal and i crush a b12 tablet in as well once a week. i try to get some flax oil mixed in there as well. anyone who has an opinion or a suggestion i would truly appreciate it:)

Beans & greens! I add pureed beans to my little one's fruit purees and I puree whatever bean soup I've made. Try green smoothies too made spoonable with pureed rice or oatmeal.

Hi Deby, are you still breastfeeding by chance? I'm in the same situation as you are. My son is 10.5 months old and his daily menu is very similar to the one you posted. I actually came across an amazing yogurt. It's by So Delicious and it is called cultured coconut milk yogurt. My son loves it! Got any suggestions for fat for baby other than hemp seeds and coconut oil?

hi joanna, yes i am still breastfeeding. that yogurt sounds really good!! i'll keep my eyes open for it. cosmo is now 1 (today actually) so i've now added peanut butter into his diet. he LOVES it, so there is some more fat for the little guy. i have an omega 3-6-9 oil i add into his meals sometimes too. and when i roast his veggies i do it with olive oil most of the time. are you still nursing as well?

My sister has decided to raise her son as a vegetarian (I'm trying for vegan, but they, my sister and husband, are both newly vegetarians), he is 15 months old. She has a cookbook shes been using since he was basically born and just picking out the veg recipes or substituting veg options but it's only for babies and young toddlers. I want to get her a vegetarian cookbook for Christmas that has meal plans for babies 1 year and up. She's wants to make sure he is getting all of the nutrients he needs and that his diet is varied. Do any of you have any ideas for a good cookbook that I can get her? I have googled it but can't find anything that I think is perfect. Thanks for your time and input, I appreciate it!

My son is also 10.5 months old and just got his top two teeth in. I would love to start giving him snacks to feed himself (besides bananas, which he gets for breakfast). I've asked friends of mine, but they give me answers that include mostly dairy. Any other suggestions besides fruit? I am still breastfeeding and plan to for another 4 to 6 months. I make all of his food: lunch (oatmeal and fruit) and dinner (veggies andfruit)>We would love to start his finger foods though. My husband and I are newbies to the kind diet....Thank you!

my son is now 14 months. he absolutely loves toast with any nut butter on it, and i make him the cornbread mini muffins from the book (which i use 1/3 cup of maple sugar instead of a cup) currants and brown rice cereal are all good finger foods. i toast up tortilla shells and and rip tiny pieces with hummus... i make it with minimal garlic, so it doesn't bother him.

Sweet potatoes have always been a hit at my house. Mashed with a little bit of molasses and unsweetened applesauce. Or even mixed with some tofu or beans works. Baked up into fries makes good soft finger food.

Its always good to sprinkle a little bit of nutritional yeast or ground flax seeds on top of babies food for a good helping of B vitamins and omegas.
