Food for flu?

Hi everyone! I am new to the forum but I have been reading the threads since I became Vegan back in February. I have the flu, and it's the first time I've been sick since I started eating this way. Usually, I would have chicken noodle soup, but of course that is out of the question. I am wondering what foods you recommend when sick? Also, it needs to be really easy since I barely have energy to pop something in the microwave. (And I'm getting tired of peanut butter toast.) Thank you!!!
Well there certainly are healthier foods than peanut butter on toast, espeically when you are sick! That's probably one of the last things you want to eat..besides meat! Toast is very dry and dry foods are hard to digest even when you are healthy.Peanut butter is a sludge of fat,so you aren't getting any nutrients there.
Try making some hearty, nutritious soups out of vegetables.Roast a pumpkin,or butternut squash, yams or sweet potatoes, cook some lentils, puree them in the blender with water. Then cook for about 20 minutes with spices such as turmeric, oregano, sage, bay leaf and fennel seed.Add some pink Himalayan salt right when you are serving it,so you don't lose any of its nutrients.Soup will help warm your body up as well as get your digestion going. Also, try some shiitake supplements, which are medically proven to boost your immune system.Always go for the pill form,if you want reap the benefits, but the whole mushrooms are good additions to soup.
I have been vegan for about two weeks now, (was vegan for about 6 months then vegitarian for two years-now that milk/eggs have wreaked havoc on my body, I'm ready to stick with vegan) and am sick. I don't know if it's the milk and egg products leaving my system, or severe seasonal allergies, or the flu. I feel like absolute poo. Aside from the veg soup, (which I am currently eating) any other wellness suggestions? Help would be appreciated! I'm the only vegan in my household/family/circle of friends so there isn't much help at home other than jokes about a lack of protein in my diet. :P
