Can anyone provide advise on how to store Ume plumbs once they are opened? The packaging does not have any directions and they appear to be pickelled, which I find too salty. Might anyone know where I could get fresh ones instead and if they are a better option? Thank you!
Hi Luna.
I store my plums in a glass jar with a lid in the fridge...they keep for ages that way. I hate plastic so everything is glass with me - and much fresher.
The plums are "made" over a period of time that is why they are only available in this way.
Hope that helps :)
Thank you Ruthy, sorry I have been out of touch.
hi! I just tried half an umeboshi plum on my breakfast porridge- and it wasn´t quite my cup of tea:-/ does anyone have ideas to share how to integrate them into my diet without tasting quite that dominant? they seem to be superhealthy, so I don ´t want to miss out on them! many thanks!
Hi Bretzel. Maybe you could try stuffing them into a rice ball - this is a very normal macro way of doing it...just chop them very small and stuff in rice. Or, add a quarter or half to any other type of dish...just trial and error but you will learn to be able to deal with the taste :)
ok, that at least gives me some hope;-) I´ll just try to sneank it in.. have you tried adding it to salads or dressings?
On Amazon, Eden Foods is selling umeboshi plums for $224.99. Seriously? Wow, I am just starting the Superhero diet and can not find them in my area so I thought I would check Amazon. Are there different kinds, brands, or something? For that price I should get my own plum tree harvested, pickled and delivered from Japan personally :) jk but the price is a little steep. Any place where I can find some online that aren't so expensive?
