Giving up dairy

Even before being dignosed with an advanced form of prostate cancer, I had decided to give up red meat; fowl and dairy.

As a "euro", I had thrived on dairy. I had an unholy relationship with cheeses of all kinds. I LOVED cheese and could easily eat my way through a wheel of brie. Giving this up required going "cold-cow" on me. Nothing happened after the first week and I substituted diary milk with almond milk. Within 4 weeks, I had droppped 25 lbs. I was shocked at how fast the weight came off. My oncologist was not too pleased as the meds (injections, etc.) he had put me on were known to cause weight gain. It turned out that the drug protocol I was on was not working and a new one was prescribed. The weight all came back with a little extra.

I am still off dairy meat and fowl (still eat fish occasionally) but I am looking forward to the next 6 months as I finsih my drug treatments and become "normal" again. Normal does not include going back to dairy, meat or fowl.

I had always had a kind of greyish ring around my iris and my eyesight had started to weaken when I turned 45. I had trouble reading 6-point fonts and lower.Another interesting side-benefit was that my eyesight improved. I was able to read again without my glasses. My wife recently remarked that the ring around my iris had disappeared and I recall my optometrist mentioning that this was from cholesterol. Well gues what, my cholesterol is "right between the uprights" for range.

Now I need to get myself into the vegan-nation.

Peace.

Good luck Pierre... dairy definitely isn't the best for any of us. I myself need to cut it down.

Abdul,

Mostly everyone has this ring. From what I've read, it may be indicative of cholesterol. Could be a precursor to gout (I've also read). I do know this, giving up dairy has vastly improved my life and my vision.

When i cut out dairy and white bread my cystic acne started healing pretty much instantly, it was quite a remarkable experience because i had tried quite alot of topical products at that time knowing little about diet and alternative health.

My breathing also improved considerably.
