Harley Davidson Leather

I realize leather is anything but 'eco-friendly', but I've been trying to find where Harley Davidson gets their leather?
The reason I ask, is because my father-in-law thinks that it's just the skins of animals we already ate. My response has been, "whatever makes YOU feel better."
I'm vegan. Been for over a year now. :D
I know that a lot of the leather in North America is actually from completely different cows in India(one example), but I would like to confirm this about Harley products before diving into a speech with my husband's biker family.
Unfortunately, when I Google this, all I get is websites touting these products.
I'm pretty close to just contacting Harley Davidson, but I have a hard time believing they'll be straight with me.
Called Harley and asked.
Leather is from China, mostly.
Some small, leather patches come from animals in North America. Leather made from cows skin, sheep skin, and goat's skin.
Should be a fun discussion.
MRS WILLIAMS, I THINK THE LEATHER PRODUCTS YOU USE ARE WHOLLY UNETHICAL LIKE MEN WHO BUY AND RIDE HARLEY DAVIDSONS AND LEAVE THEIR WIFE AND CHILDREN CRYING.
D WELLS-
First off, please don't yell at me.
Second, I don't use leather.
My husband DOES ride a Harley Davidson, and he is NOT unethical.
We are very happy together, and I am very sorry that you have such a scewed view of reality. I'm sorry that your life experiences have lead you to this heart-wrenching conclusion.
I'm also sorry that you didn't even read my posts.
You saw 'Harley Davidson', and assumed. Shame on you.
I was just looking for information to pass onto the bikers in my life.
Don't judge me.
Alyx-So sorry you got such a bad response here.
I read your post and I am so glad you did the research. Sometimes it is hard to avoid absolutely everything. My steering wheel is leather and in order to get that engine I had to have a leather steering wheel. I could of special ordered my truck, waited longer and paid more. I needed a vehicle though and it needed to be appropriate for my location.
Again thank you for looking into that for us.
imblissful-It's alright. It is the Internet.
When I looked at her profile later too, it looks like she's on a tough road. :/
I'm on disability right now, so I have time to make these phonecalls. :)
