Hi Kind Lifers!

Okay, so the holidays passed and yes I overindulged with meat, dairy, alcohol and caffeine boooo. Not excessively, just small amounts daily and I also reduced excercise drastically because we were travelling alot.

December 27th I decided to get back on track and began the Vegan diet and P90X2 exercise program. I workout in the morning for approx 1 hour and then 30 minute run in the evening. My diet consists of 50% protein in the form of protein powder (Brendan Brazier's) or tofu, veggie burgers etc. 25% carbohydrates and 25% fat as recommended by the program for optimal fat loss.

Since I started the program, I'm seeing fantastic results however I feel terrible everyday. All I want to do is sleep and I'm very irritable. I feel so weak that it's a struggle just to climb stairs. I've had constant headaches and my eyes in the morning look like I'm really hungover.

Could this be detox that I'm experiencing again or could it be something in my diet? I'm lost and confused about the symptoms I'm experiencing. I'm not sure how much longer I'm able to hang on this way before my co-workers and family send me to rehab lol. Suggestions, thoughts anything is surely welcome, not sure where to go from here?

It's possible that it is partly detox and partly overtraining. P90X is pretty intense, and since you are doing a daily run in addition to that, it might be a little much for you right away. Maybe back off the second workout of the day and see if that helps? You can always add it back in later, especially once your detox symptoms fade.

Hopefully someone else will chime in! Good luck!

Firstly have you done P90 or similar intense exercise in the past with no bad symptoms?.

If it is just since you changed your diet, what was your diet like before and did you have trouble exercising then.

I can't see it being a blood sugar issue but it wouldn't be a bad idea to test.

Good point Powerlifter!

Yes, I've completed P90X twice without a problem following a vegan diet but not tracking %'s with Protein, fats and carbs. I was probably heavier on the carb end. I've never reduced the carbs and increased the protein to 50% before.

The plan suggests not to follow those guidelines that I mentioned no longer than 6 weeks max before moving up to less protein and increased carbs. I'm only on day 15 but maybe I should give it a try for a couple of days. I'm trying to reduce fat as quickly as possible for an upcoming cruise in 7 weeks so I'm running out of time and afraid that changing the plans will detour my results lol!

My diet for the month of December unfortunately was whatever was on the table I'm afraid. Which would range from Seafood chowder to Turkey (yes I said it) Dinner. I'm now full fledge back on the Vegan bandwagon which is generally where I feel the best on a daily basis. I'm afraid I had a weak month in December but I'm not beating myself up over it. I learn from my bad choices and I've documented everything since I went back on the Vegan Wagon as a reminder for the next time I have a weak moment, how hard I suffered through the detox part.
