Any thoughts on maca?

I keep reading all over the net that it's great for energy, a good protein and has no known health hazards. I've only found two blemishes on this which is from a gal blogger where she said that it should be consumed day one though fourteen of a womans cycle and some people complain of cramping. I've been taking only the recommended teaspoon of it a couple times a week and I think, though I'm not sure as it could have been the NyQuil, it caused some issues. I had almost a week of extremely acidic saliva and it wasn't coming from my stomach. It's toned down now and I'm too freaked out to try the maca again.

Anyone have issues with maca and/or know of a good reliable source for maca info?

Thanks!

Maca is a great herb although there are better adaptogenic herbs. There are a small amount of individuals who don't tolerate maca well, but sometimes this is because of the dosage used. You see people using tablespoons upon tablespoons in their smoothies etc.

Half-1 Teaspoon up to 3 times daily, at least 25 minutes before meals suffices.
