Sick with an autoimmune disease

I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease back in October. I feel like I have taken two steps forward, one back since then. I don't really know what kinds of things to eat that would be strengthening to my body. I find macrobiotic food like daikon & seaweed weird & frankly, kind of disgusting. Also challenging is that I'm on prednisone, which messes my stomach up, leaves me with no appetite, and I throw up whatever I do eat. Help!

I'm so sorry you are not feeling well. Have you considered seeing a naturopath doctor? My Medical doctor is a big advocate of eating your way to health so he told me things like, eat a protein packed breakfast, greens with each meal etc. As far as the vomiting after eating goes, I absolutely feel your pain with this! My doctor gave me something called "Zofran" and it works beautifully. I only need to take a small dose when I get nauseous and it works wonders! Also, I take some supplements like Ashwagandha root to help control my adrenal gland cortisol production so I can avoid the steroids. I'm sure a naturopath doctor could help you explore a more natural way of healing. Also, consider a nutritionist if your insurance covers it. I went to see one when I started eating plant based to make sure I was being kind to my body and she really helped me understand how to balance my meals without meat and dairy. I am also disgusted by sea veggies (there are capsules if you feel like you must have this). Another Kind Lifer on here who has been a Vegan from birth gave me lots of meal ideas and always explains how to cook things like "mochi" :)

Thanks for sharing. I am seeing a naturopath and we have started with my digestive system since he (as well as I) feel it is probably the most important contributor to our overall health.

We haven't really touched on what to eat, just what not to eat. And since I haven't eaten most of those things for a year and a half now, that doesn't really help me. What breakfast do you eat? How do you pack it with protein? Eating greens with each meal makes sense too. That's the kind of advice I am looking for.

I plan on going to see a nutritionist someday, but just haven't been able to for several reasons. I'm pretty sure my diet hasn't been the most well-balanced, nutritious diet out there! :P

Watch Fat Sick & Nearly Dead, I believe he had an autoimune disease. Its on Netflix. I have a question, how do you find a Natuorpath?

I eat small meals often most of the time because being full makes me nauseous. I do eat sugar etc so Im probably not the best one to hand out diet advice. I work out every day and dont have a problem with weight so Ive never tried to cut out sugar etc even though I probably should!!!

Typical Breakfast - Quinoa with almond milk and syrup, 1 piece of whole wheat toast with 1 tablespoon of peanut butter

10am snack - smoothie w/ banana, kale, strawberries, multi supplement powder (from nutritionist), ice and almond milk.

Lunch - Salad and a small bean burrito

3pm snack - handful of nuts and left over salad from lunch

Dinner - brown rice with baby bok choy, mushrooms and sprouts.

Sometimes I get hungry at around 7pm again and I know people say not to eat but I can't help myself. I usually just throw a wheat pita in some hot earth balance then hit it with some cinnamon and raw sugar once crispy.
