Just Wondering

I started my vegan journey mid January 2012 and so far so good. I am now realizing how strong you have to be mentally, expressing why I am choosing an animal free lifestyle. I never thought I would have to answer so many questions, or give reasons for my choice. I hear things like "well animals are hear to provide food", or Vegan is not all that healthy you need meat" or the best is how I am just going to the extreme and of course lets not forget the lovely "friends" that say I am crazy and than proceed to tell me how it is only brutal to hunt animals if you dont use every part of the animal.... Now I am happily married to a wonderful man that chooses to eat meat, he has his meals and I prepare the vegan version of that meal for myself. We both have a great love for animals and he supports me every step of the way. He is even thinking about taking the kind path.

Sorry I am just venting ( I needed it)

Hi Stacey,

I think that's great that he's thinking of taking the kind path. Yes, especially in the beginning it's hard to answer all the questionst that people flood you with. I wrote a an entry in my blog about answering questions :)

I think all of us have been exactly where you are right now. It is difficult when your decisions aren't the popular way to go. Happy Herbivore has addressed this issue on several occasions, because we all have had to deal with the negativity. Like you I was very frustrated with it in the begining, especially the people who became almost hostile because of my decision to give up animal products even though it had nothing to do with them. Keeping up with The Kind Life blog as well as the Happy Herbivore blog has really helped me focus on the decision i've made to become vegan, since we all have had similar experiences. Both sites focus on slightly different angles, so I feel they are both supportive in different ways. :-)

Here are links to a couple of her entries that might help you:

I hope this helps, and good luck!
