does anyone know what i could supplement my baby with through his first year if at any point i'm not able to breastfeed? I've read good things about Baby's Only Soy formula (i think it's organic). Is there anything other than soy formula?
Baby's Only has other organic formulas that aren't soy and they worked great for us. I do have to warn you though it's a slippery slope when you have " just incase" formula in the house. My SIL sent us baby's only as a back up because I was constantly on the pump after a jaundice scare that led to nipple confusion and eventually my milk drying up. All in all I have a beautiful healthy baby that has been formula fed since 5 mo old, but I still have the regret sometimes. What if I hadn't had the formula there would I have tried harder? I think I would have. It was an easy fix that my husband wanted to pull out every time the baby was hungry but I wasn't done pumping and eventually I said yes. So I would suggest not having that just incase in the house... Just incase you can always go to whole foods and pick up a can if need be. :)
Thanks for the great advice. You're right, i could always run out and get some if need be. And five months bf'ing is great! Im almost at four and would like to continue to one year but its hard being back at work etc.
My little one loves rice milk... maybe this would work? I've breast fed for 14 months and would love to feed until 2 or so. I think it is nutritionally and emotionally the best thing for us.
