I like to put in flax seeds, a cut up apple, cinnamon and some almond milk. Then mix it all up. It kind of tastes like hot apple cobbler. I also put cut up strawberries or blueberries in my oatmeal with flax seeds and almond milk. Yummy! :)

Chopped pecan nuts and a spoonful of maple syrup.

Or chopped apple and some sultanas.

I usually make mine with water and don't bother with milk, but different kinds of milk would add a different twist too.

This recipe is for 3 servings. I like to refrigerate the leftovers to easily reheat during the week.

Bring 1 1/2 cups of water to boil, then add 3/4 cup oatmeal (I usually use Quaker Oats Old-Fashioned, not instant)...stir. Bring to a very low simmer, cover & cook for about 10 min's....it's done! If you want a creamier texture, then let it sit & cool (covered) for another 10 - 15 min's.

Take 1/3 of what you've cooked (refrigerate the rest) & put into a bowl...add some almond milk, soymilk, oatmilk, etc....stir. Lately I've been sweetening mine w/maple syrup (agave syrup is nice, too) Then sprinkle cinnamon on top. Other optional additions: a Tablesp of wheat germ, raisins or dried cranberries, ground flaxseed. For a protein boost, sometimes I'll add 2 -3 Tablsp of cooked quinoa. I eat this with a little side of fruit & nuts & I'm not hungry for hours....
