Since I am new to nondairy eating, I recently replaced my cow milk with soy milk. But even more recently tried almond milk at a friend's house. Just wondering what your thoughts are between the two-- it seems like almond milk is lower is calories and fat, but soy milk is higher in protein, and they are about comparable in Vitamin D and Calcium, does that sound right? I eat it on cereal and they taste about the same to me, but I am confused about which one is better for me. I have no soy or nut allergies. Thoughts? Thanks!

I think that it all comes down to personal preference. I dont like soy. I dont eat a lot of it. I have never once bought a carton of soy milk. The only time I drink any soy milk is when I indulge in a frappucino from starbucks and opt for soy milk instead of dairy.I am a huge fan of almond milk and coconut milk. I buy those two all the time and have at least one of them daily in smoothies or on cereal.

I think either way (as far as health benefits go) soy and almond milk are much better choices than cows milk.
Although I do believe almond milk is going to be a healthier choice in the long run.
Soy milk might not be able to give you the amount of calcium your body needs, also I've heard that
too much soy tends to screw with your hormone levels.
Thats all i've got! Hope I helped in some way :)

in terms of health, i was told by a nutritionist that Soy is better, and to always buy the carton labeled 'enriched'. this also mostly applied to my baby turning one, who i am no longer nursing, and not wanting her to consume dairy she suggested that. :)

I get enriched almond milk because I prefer the taste and I am a bit soy sensitive (like a lot of people). I think it comes down to personal choice.

I feel like being very careful about soy, but when I buy it I try to make sure it's organic. I love doing a yogic hot almond drink with maple syrup in the morning sometimes! :D
