Going Vegan

The book "The Kind Diet" and Alicia Silverstone change my life drastically. I have become a whole new me thanks to the info that Alicia has put out there. It cured my allergies and my mild arthritis.

Here's an excerpt from my upcoming book, "Duran Duran, Leo, and the Universe."

Chapter Twenty-Eight
Going Vegan
In January of 2010, I went vegan after seeing Alicia Silverstone talk about
her book, The Kind Diet, on Oprah. It made sense health-wise and energywise.
I wanted better health--the best possible. More and more doctors
are advocating for the vegan diet. Besides the health aspect, I liked the
idea of killing fewer animals just for my benefit. And then to find out that the
resources used to process meats just in the United States alone is astronomical.
We could use our farmland to easily feed the whole world tenfold.

Life Force Energy is in the food we eat. It has been so rewarding to get
more of that foundational energy through live foods. Through being more
aware of Life Force Energy through meditation and a vegan diet, I find that
I use food less for excitement in my life than I used to. Bad foods don't have
the pull on me that they have had for most of my life.

I don't believe everyone should be vegan. I just want to put my two cents
in that it was a good move for me. It has been easier to control my weight,
my cholesterol went down substantially, and I got rid of my terrible allergies
and mild arthritis. It also left me feeling calmer. They say that when cows,
for example, are killed, they know it's coming after seeing the one in front of
them die. This causes stress hormones in them that we, in turn, eat when we
eat beef. I actually felt a change in my own demeanor after I stopped eating
beef. There is less tension in me for sure. In the spirit of health alone, I think
it's a fabulous decision to make for oneself.

Along with all those reasons, it feels right spiritually, to me, not to kill
other beings just to eat them when there is plenty to eat without having to
take the lives of other living beings. This has been a beautiful addition to my
spiritual journey. I can even enjoy the beauty of all animals more since I don't
have to be associated with the killing or mistreatment of other creatures in
order to live. I feel more in sync with all other living species because of it.

Hi Jill, I am a new vegan and I did it for the animals. I have not read The Kind Diet yet but I plan too. I am still gathering information and learning making sure I am getting all the nutrients I need. The excerpt from your book about the cows seeing other cows die makes me so sad. I wish more people would choose this lifestyle.
