I have been vegan for 5 whole days, I am sooo pleased, very very new to this, however i have been feeling very nauseated and dizzy for the past two days, is this my system getting rid of the toxins, i also have been very backed up too. Can anyone shed some light..... many thanks K x
Hi Kathleen, that's great you've switched to a vegan diet!!! Congrats! You probably are experiencing detox which can be pretty rough. Perhaps include some brown rice in your diet which I always find calming and good for the stomach if you're not feeling so good. I often have it for breakfast steamed with some rice milk and sultanas instead of porridge. Also .... read as much as you can on the vegan diet .. books, blogs, etc, the more you know the better ... it took me a while to get use to thinking about food in this whole new light and how to make sure I"m getting everything I need. I'm only about 9 months into it and still learning. Anyhow ... hope you feel better soon! Kirsty
I always feel that detox is over-rated because 9/10 you wouldn't feel any symptoms just from dietary change, especially so suddenly. A more common reason for dizzyness especially in relation to diet can be due to blood sugar issues. Are you eating enough would be my first question and are the meals balanced ?.
Nausea can also be a result of blood sugar issues but can also be the body adapting to higher fiber diets etc such as the case with a vegan diet.
