I am having a really hard time returning to vegetarianism/veganism. I originally became a vegetarian overnight and really never had much struggle with it, even though my family strongly objected (and I was 13 or 14 at the time). Being diagnosed with Celiac disease, I let my doctor sway me to adding more animal products back into my life... first just occasional fish and then it snowballed into any and all. Having lived with it for several years and doing lots of research on nutrition, I of course wanted to return to my veggie ways.
I don't know why I am having such a hard time coming back to it again. I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has had a hard time breaking the milk/meat addiction, or anyone who has had some stop/starts on their road to the kind lifestyle :).
Thanks for your advice, Tania! I think cold turkey is probably the way for me... it certainly worked for me before :). I am also going to wear one of my vegetarian necklaces to help remind me and prevent backsliding. I'm hoping it will make me feel more accountable, since I'm literally wearing my values. It sounds like you shop really smart... I'll definitely keep your ideas in mind as I go grocery shopping tonight!
