Hi! I'm from France and living in Montreal, started this lifestyle about two years ago but still not 100% vegan, it takes time. Diners out are still an issue!
Jen, about the shoes, I have ordered some from mooshoes.com which is new york shop carrying all kind of vegan shoe brands. They tend to be expensive but they have a sale section where you may find good deals, you can also find some cool sandals for the summer for about 40$. Another shop where i find lots of cheap and cute vegan options is 'Little burgundy', check out brands such as Blow fish, Cool way or hibou. Hope it helps!
If anyone is in the burlington area this weekend they are having north America's largest free music festival ' sound of music'. Every year fathers day weekend. There are two great veggie booths. Kindfood and Portabello Burger. Both amazing. Kindfood is vegan and gluten free.
Thanks so much Cecile! I'll be checking out the sites that you mentioned!!
Jen, for your vegan shoes, you can check http://gotniceshoes.com/ It's a shop in Vancouver and you can order online. There's a good price range and they sometimes have sales!
I'm from dowtown Toronto and I have been vegan for one month. I'm very fortunate to have many grocery stores and restaurants that offer vegan items but I have found it to be a challenge to prepare meals at home.
Hey! I'm from Hamilton, Ontario!! If anyone else is from that area, I would love to connect. I am the only one of all my friends and family that is vegan (though my mom is trying :) ), so it has been difficult to have any sort of communication about it because everyone seems not to care at all about their health and more importantly, the welfare of other living beings. let me know :)
V for vegan: merci!!! je sais qu'il y a plusieurs places vg à Montréal mais j'aimerais beaucoup avoir tes suggestions :-)
But my main problem is (maybe someone can relate to that), i don't have any vegan/vegetarian friends. When i am invited to a restaurant, it is pretty much always in a non veggie place. I can always find something in ethnic and italian places but french restaurants tend to be places where i have 0 veg options. I know it's ironic because i am french (and so are most of my friends) and they are all about 'creme fraiche' and 'foie gras' which is so depressing. I know i could like Alicia suggested in her book, call the place in advance and ask for a special plate, but for some reason i am scared to do so.
How do all of you deal with diners out with non vegan friends in non vegan place?
Hey I'm from Orillia, Ontario and i've been vegan for about 2 months now :) I don't know anyone else who is vegan so it would be nice to connect with someone near by.
Hi Kristina, sorry for the late reply. Summer is crazy busy with kids and trying to figure out meal plans for myself and my family!
I've been in a vegan lifestyle now for 2 months as well and really feel great for it! I've recently had to look up some natural gas remedies due to the major changes in my body *blush* but other than that, love it!
You'll love this site for recipes ~ I've been experiementing with them and found some repeats in my house :-)
