I recently moved to a new city where the very hard water is causing a major flareup of my typically-mild eczema. I went to my doctor for some relief, and in addition to a prescription, she recommended a number of skincare products--all of which contain urea. In fact, she told me that's the most important ingredient I should look for when buying skin care. Ugh . . .

I was pretty misearble, and I confess that I ran out and bought everything she suggested. After just a few days, it's working like a charm and my skin is healing quickly. I don't want this to be my long-term solution, however. Can anyone recommend a vegan alternative that holds moisture in the skin as well as urea?

Try Celadon Road Body Butter. Our products are formulated for sensitive skin and we have seen wonderful results with our body butter and shower gels keeping the natural moisture in. Our laundry detergent has also been proven to not aggrivate eczema. All organic products, nearly all are Vegan Friendly (a few have sustainably harvested beeswax), and are completely chemical free! www.myceladonroad.com/adenniston to learn about the wonderful products.

I have eczema, and have found 2 Lush products that work really well for me.....
Dream Cream
Sympathy for the Skin

Both are vegan. I've also heard Lush's Ultrabalm (also vegan) works wonders on eczema patches as well. I'll be buying some of that this week.

I had gone to a dermatologist years ago, who prescribed me a few creams and ointments, none of which did anything to help.

Seaweed Bath Co. started a line of bath and body products designed to help with psoriasis and eczema. Not all are vegan, but you could consider them as well.

My son and I have excema and we use extra virgin olive oil. A friend recommended it to me a couple of years ago and I have never looked back. It is amazing! I buy a huge EVO from Sams Club and a small pump. After a great shower a couple of squirts go a long way. By using it daily, we have been very satisfied. Depending on what I eat, I may occasionally have a flare up but I just use the oil throughout the day and it works wonders.
